The Door to Christmas (with
Dave Neiman)
Two hammered
dulcimers welcome in the season! Steve paired up with National Hammered
Dulcimer Champion Dave Neiman to create a warm tapestry of holiday
cheer that you may want to play in July. The Door to Christmas is
a wonderful blend of traditional favorites, international gems,
and a few surprises. Almost 50 minutes of really lovely instrumental
music is played with delicacy, assuredness, and a good humor. Features
two hammered dulcimers with piano, guitar, cello, recorders, violin,
and bass. (1993)
What they say...
"Christmas wouldn't be complete without the sparkling,
crystalline sounds of the hammered dulcimer, and Neiman and
Schneider on dual hammered dulcimers tackle the typical carols
with a joyful abandon that borders on giddy. The real pearls
here are the lesser known works, and there's also a few original
tunes that are worthy entries into the pantheon of Christmas music.
As usual, Neiman and Schneider, who have both previously recorded
dulcimer albums, are excellent musicians and their selection
is superb." Dirty Linen Magazine
"This is one Christmas album you won't ever tire
of!" NAPRA Trade Journal
"This is not your ordinary collection of Christmas songs.
It is a magnificent array of seasonal songs and the music
is performed with such strength, beauty, and warmth you
feel at once at home with them. The Door to Christmas is enlightening,
stunning, and moving- all at once. Wonderful job by Dave Neiman
and Steve Schneider."New England Performer
